Laurel Sucsy is an artist, curator and writer based in Memphis and New York. 

She holds a BA from Bowdoin College and an MFA from Tyler School of Art.  She has completed residencies at The Ragdale Foundation, The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and The Vermont Studio Center and received certificates from Temple University Rome and Brandeis University.  Her recent solo exhibitions include Paintings at John Davis Gallery, Hudson, NY, Finding the Edge at Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Memphis, TN and Chasing the Rabbit at Clough-Hanson Gallery, Memphis, TN.  

Sucsy’s paintings have been exhibited in numerous group shows nationally at venues such as Mississippi State University, Fosdick-Nelson Gallery in Alfred, NY and Plane Space in New York City among others. She has taught at Rhodes College and Memphis College of Art and is committed to arts education and conversation surrounding art making. In 2015, she curated an exhibition of abstract painting at Crosstown Arts, titled Between the Eyes.  She is the recipient of the Arts Accelerator Grant from Arts Memphis and currently facilitates The Women’s Culture Club, an emergent conversation project which aims to activate a sense of community and open minds through exposure to the arts.
